Kidney Failure And Kidney Disease - Drug And Medical Procedure Causes

Published: May 29, 2007

Human Kidney FailureKidneys serve a critical function within our body by cleaning water and waste from within. The wastes normally filtered by our kidneys can build up to toxic levels when disease or complete kidney failure occurs. There are numerous causes for kidney disease and failure, some are unforeseen and unavoidable. Other causes, such as the side effects of drugs or medical procedures, are avoidable and give those who suffer from this condition reason to question if it could have been avoided.

If you suffer from kidney problems and have reason to believe drugs or medical procedures may have contributed to your condition then please read this article entirely and contact The Law Offices of Robert Davis for a free legal case review.

Symptoms of kidney failure may include:
  • Metallic taste in the mouth.
  • Trouble focusing mentally or lethargy.
  • Physical fatigue, exhaustion.
  • Swelling of the body.
  • Urinating less and less frequently.
  • Pain in the abdominal area.
  • Vomiting and diarrhea.

Causes of kidney failure:

  • Trasylol – A drug given to patients during heart surgery. Trasylol has been shown to cause damage to the kidneys of patients who received it. Most patients who received Trasylol are unaware it was used at all.
  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Contrast Agents – Before an MRI is performed, patients are given a substance known as a contrast agent to enhance the effectiveness of the procedure. Gadolinium-based contrast agents have been shown to cause Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF) in those already suffering from kidney problems. NSF is a potentially fatal kidney related condition.

If you suspect kidney problems may have been caused by a medical procedure or drug then contact us today for a fast, free legal case review.
